3 teens arrested after shots fired in Goshen
GOSHEN TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WXIX) - Three Fairfield teens are in custody after police say they fired shots in a residential area in Goshen Township early Thursday and then fled.
Police responded to 1785 SR 28 around 1 a.m. for a report of shots fired, Goshen Township Police Chief Bob Rose said.
Chief Rose says no one was hit, however, five vehicles were hit by the gunfire.
Alfonso Martinez, a Lakeshore Estates resident, says he was inside his home asleep, but his son was awake at the time and noticed a group of people outside.
“He saw there was a few teenagers outside arguing, and he said one of them ran and tried to hide in between the mobile homes,” Martinez said.
Not long after that, Martinez said the gunshots went off.
“A couple of minutes later, my son came and knocked on our bedroom door, and he told us that there was a shooting outside,” Martinez recalled. “We didn’t want to get too close to the window because we didn’t know if they were already gone. Or if they were still around and started the shooting back up.”
The teens were taken into custody following a traffic stop on SR 48 near Paxton Road, according to police.
An AR-15, AK-47, and a 12 gauge shotgun along with multiple loaded magazines and spent shell casings were found in their vehicle, Chief Rose said.
The incident is still under investigation.
Police have not released the motive but believe the shooting is an isolated incident.
