911 call: 3-year-old shot in the head in Hamilton
BUTLER COUNTY, Ohio (WXIX) - A 3-year-old boy shot himself in the head in Hamilton last night, according to a 911 call.
Hamilton police officers responded around 7 p.m. to a scene in the 900 block of Park Avenue, according to Lt. Jon Richardson.
Officers and Hamilton firefighters found the juvenile victim at the scene with a gunshot wound.
“He picked up a firearm,” the caller told the 911 operator. “So he did shoot himself is that right?” the operator asked. “Yes, we believe so, yes,” the caller responded.
The caller told the operator that the 3-year-old was awake and breathing but was having seizures.
The operator asked where the wound was and the caller said it was on his head at the hairline.
“He shot himself, right, nobody else shot him?” the 911 operator asked. “That’s what we believe, no. No one else did,” the caller responded.
EMS transported the boy to an unnamed hospital.
There is no word on his condition at this time.
Detectives have been called in to continue the investigation.
